Ground School
Are you interested in becoming a sport pilot? If so, then you may be wondering what the process entails. The first step is to attend a ground school class. This class will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the DGCA written exam and obtain your Sport Pilot License. Ground school is the initial period in pilot school where you will learn the basic theories that you will need as a pilot later.
Duration of ground school: 1 – 4 months
Flying Lesson
Training requirements for a sport pilot certificate with airplane category —
A minimum of 20 hours flight time including: 15 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor. 5 hours solo flight.
Flight training must include at least: 2 hours cross-country flight training. 10 takeoffs and landings to a full stop.
One solo cross-country flight of at least 75 nautical miles total distance with a full-stop landing at a minimum of two points and one segment of the flight consisting of a straight-line distance of at least 25 nautical miles between takeoff and landing locations. 3 hours flight training in preparation for the practical test.
Sport Pilot License
The Sport Pilot License is the first license you will get before you are allowed to fly. The requirement to get an SPL is to pass the ground school test and an English language test (TOEIC) of at least 400.
